TO BE A CHRISTIAN-BASED SUPPORT GROUP FOR THE FAMILIES AND FRIENDS WHOSE LIVES HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY ADDICTION

TESTIMONIALS

I have been going to Families In Addiction group almost since it began. I have a husband who has been in recovery from cocaine for over 20 years. I have a son and daughter who are addicts. My daughter has been in recovery for over a year now, and my son died in his addiction. I would never have been able to deal with the constant pain and chaos if I hadn't been a part of this group.

We discovered in December 2019 that our son had been using meth. His behavior and actions were strange and not his usual self. He would stay up for 3 or 4 nights at a time and then sleep for 2 or 3 days. He would get up to eat or go to the bathroom and go back to bed. He lost interest in spending time with family and going to work. He had no drive or desire to do anything productive. The Meth was causing him to hallucinate and see things that were not there. I was so concerned for his safety and health it caused me to obsess over his choices every day. I had trouble daily trying to focus at work or do my job. Our family even tried to get help through the court system, but there was no help in 2020 due to Covid.

We prayed for God to give us an answer as to what we could to. We needed help and answers. One Sunday about a year ago, our pastor had 2 young men give their testimonies of salvation and deliverance. It was the day we heard about Families In Addiction meetings. We decided then, it was an answer to prayer. Someone we could talk to and not feel alone. Maybe we could get some answers.

The meetings and being around others who understand, have helped up to be stronger and know, this is not my fault. There was nothing I did to cause my son to choose this path. I did not fail in my parenting skills. I do not have to obsess over his choices anymore. I give it to God and let Him, God, help all of us.

Families in Addiction was formed by two couples who have faced the daily struggles associated with having a loved one in addiction. Seeking answers, God placed it on their hearts to start a support group where other people dealing with similar situations could come together and experience God’s love and guidance in these turbulent times.
