TO BE A CHRISTIAN-BASED SUPPORT GROUP FOR THE FAMILIES AND FRIENDS WHOSE LIVES HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY ADDICTION

Has your life become unmanageable?

The McGrews

Co-Founders, Families in Addiction

Richard and Debbie McGrew are parents of three children. They had a successful business, their children were very involved in church and many school activities. By all accounts, they were living the American dream. Then addiction entered their lives in the form of one child addicted to drugs and another struggling with alcohol. This battle devastated their family for many years. The level of stress and anxiety was unbearable at times. In desperation, they reached out to a support group. They found love, support and education. They also found some comfort knowing they were not alone in this battle. They not only learned to be better equipped to weather the storm, but also found resources that assisted their children in their own personal battle against this dreaded disease.

The Kilbys

Co-Founders, Families in Addiction

Jeff and Kim are the parents of two children. Brittany their oldest and Kacey, three years younger. It was during their son's high school years that they started to notice changes in his behavior. He went from the funny, sweet, loving boy to someone that they no longer recognized. They dealt with the addiction for several years before finally realizing that what they thought was a phase their son was going through, had become their worst nightmare. Their son was addicted to methamphetamines. During this time with all of the chaos, stress, and anxiety of dealing with an addict, their lives felt hopeless. They felt that there was nowhere to reach out for help. In searching for answers, they were led to a support group. Through much prayer and the help of others with similar circumstances, they began to learn and heal. It was also through this time that God's intervention moved their son to Alaska where he ended up in a Christ-centered homeless shelter for men. That is where Kacey came to know Christ and found the support he needed, to begin his journey of healing. Now, our goal is to share our story of hope with others in the storm.

Families in Addiction was formed by two couples who have faced the daily struggles associated with having a loved one in addiction. Seeking answers, God placed it on their hearts to start a support group where other people dealing with similar situations could come together and experience God’s love and guidance in these turbulent times.
